The Boothby Cocktail is a classic cocktail from the early 20th century. Made with Rye Whiskey, Sweet Vermouth, Angostura Bitters and Peychaud’s Bitters, then topped off with Champagne. The cocktail was named after The Honorable William T. “Cocktail Bill” Boothby. During his time, he was a very famous American bartender, speakeasy operator, and California Congressman who wrote several books on bartending and cocktail recipes. Boothby served for a number of years as head bartender at San Francisco’s Palace Hotel’s Bar Room and Grill Room. The Palace Hotel still stands today, and the cocktail lives on.
