The Conflict and Compromise cocktail can be best described as a spicy and verdant variation on the classic Margarita. Its tequila base is enhanced by tangy-sweet melon liqueur, citrus lime juice, spicy jalapeño, and herbal cilantro. The playful melon liqueur, Midori, has been somewhat absent from the cocktail renaissance but it works in this shockingly green drink for its ability to play well with the other ingredients. Brock Schulte, the bar director at The Monarch, in Kansas City, Missouri, found plenty of opportunities to get creative with the Japanese melon liqueur for that reason, which is how he came up with this juicy, spicy libation.
