Death In The Afternoon Absinthe Champagne Cocktail

Invented by Ernest Hemingway, Death In The Afternoon is also know as the Hemingway Champagne. The cocktail shares its name with Hemingway’s 1932 book. It is said that he came up with the cocktail while he spent time in the Left Bank, Paris and enjoyed the absinthe there. The drink is know for its decadence and high strength. Variations of this cocktail use pastis as a substitute for absinthe when not available. Another cocktail from the author is his Daiquiri.

Ingredients

.5 oz ABSINTHE
1 dash(es) SIMPLE SYRUP, Optional, add to your taste
3 oz CHAMPAGNE, Or dry sparkling wine, to top
