This riff on the classic Margarita recipe comes from the now-shuttered bar Mayahuel. The Mezcal Margarita is a potent, smoky blend of mezcal and Cointreau, and lime juice. Mayahuel helped pave the way for other bars to embrace mezcal, and thanks in large part to their pioneering efforts many classic cocktails—like the Old Fashioned or Negroni—now commonly include this smoky spirit as a key ingredient.
