Boozy Refreshing Queen'S Park Swizzle With Mint Rum And Bitters

The Queen’s Park Swizzle was named for the famed Queen’s Park Hotel, located in Trinidad’s capitol, the Port of Spain. Created at the hotel in the 1920s, this rum based cocktail gets its “swizzle” moniker from its mixing technique. It calls for agitating the drink with a swizzle stick (this can also be done with a bar spoon).

This tropical cocktail calls for using Demerara Rum, a rich and smoky rum that hails from neighboring Guyana. It combines this distinguished rum with lime juice, simple syrup, four hefty dashes of Angostura bitters, and garnishes with a sprig of mint. Its healthy amount of Trinidad’s famous export, Angostura bitters, is also shared by the Trinidad Sour.

Ingredients

2 oz DARK RUM
1 oz LIME JUICE, Fresh is best
1 oz SIMPLE SYRUP
4 dash(es) BITTERS, Preferably Angostura
1 whole MINT SPRIG
