Meaning “Last Word” in Spanish, the Ultima Palabra is a mezcal variation on the great equal-parts classic. Other names for this cocktail include the Closing Argument and Last of the Oaxacans. Variations on the recipe can depend on where the drink is served. Some will have an equal part addition of grapefruit juice and/or pineapple juice.
For true likeness to the original, follow the recipe below that uses green chartreuse, maraschino liqueur, and lime juice. We found that these ingredients combined with smoky mezcal create plenty of complexity in flavor without adding additional citrus juices.
