White Dragon Cocktail With Tequila Lemon Juice Orange Liqueur Egg White

The White Dragon may initially seem like a riff on the Margarita but in reality, it was created as a variation on another classic cocktail, the White Lady. Gin is swapped for tequila. The other ingredients remain the same; the agave spirit is mixed with orange liqueur, lemon juice, and egg white. Lemon juice plays well here where lime juice would be too astringent. When combined with orange liqueur and silky egg white, there’s no need for a sweetener like agave syrup in the Margarita.

The founder of New York City’s Please Don’t Tell, Jim Meehan created this drink with the brand Casa Dragones (hence the Dragon moniker) in mind. He sought to create a drink that enhanced the strong orange qualities in the brand’s blanco tequila. However, any ready available blanco tequila will work well in this silky and zesty cocktail.

1.75 oz BLANCO TEQUILA, Preferably Casa Dragones
.75 oz ORANGE LIQUEUR, Preferably Cointreau
