The history of the Gin Sour is unknown, however it is apart of one of the traditional cocktail groups. A Sour belongs to one of the oldest original cocktail families. They’re mixed drinks with a base liqueur, citrus juice, a sweetener, and often an egg white.
The Whiskey Sour was first described by Jerry Thomas in his 1862 book How to Mix Drinks. The gin version is lighter and more delicate than its whiskey predecessor.
