Bee Sting Cocktail With Barenjager Honey Liqueur Scotch Fernet-Branca Tangerine Juice Egg White And Peychaud'S Bitters

The Bee Sting cocktail is best described as a cross between a Rusty Nail and a Scotch sour. Created by “The Cocktail Guru” Jonathan Pogash, it’s an intriguing blend of sweet, smoky, citrus, and botanical flavors. In it, single malt Scotch (preferably Laphroaig) is mixed with Bärenjäger, a German honey liqueur. Its name means Bear Hunter, as it is based on an 18th century German recipe meant to lure bears.

These smoky, sweet, and rich flavors are given added complexity with the addition of Fernet-Branca, which is both botanical and bittersweet, and tangerine juice, for its more balanced sweet and tartness than other citrus juices. These mélange of flavors is ultimately smoothed out by the dispelling effects of an egg white, leaving the mixture silky and creamy. The Bee Sting’s cloud like surface is finally topped off with Peychaud’s aromatic bitters, for a visually stunning finish.
