Recognized as the national drink of Brazil, it is made with cachaça, sugar, and lime. While the Caipirinha’s exact origins are unknown, it is believed to have been invented by landowning farmers in the State of São Paulo during the 19th century. Its name come from the Brazilian Portuguese word “caipira”, a term that referred to someone from the countryside.
